eBay Seller Job Responsibilities & Duties:

Provide quality goods to be sold to (almost) the entire internet-accessible world through a highly established platform called eBay.

eBay Seller Job Duties:

  • Knows the overall goals and expectations of their sales results through eBay.
  • Seeks out opportunities to procure product that is desirable to the eBay shopper.
  • Researches products through eBay and other accessible sources to ensure the highest and/or most appropriate selling price is listed.
  • Stores the listed and unlisted products so they are protected.
  • Documents storage  of listed products so that they are easily found once sold.
  • Seeks out the safest and most cost effective ways to ship products to buyers so they arrive swiftly and undamaged.
  • Works with shipping companies such as the USPS, UPS and FedEx to resolve issues that arise from items that are damaged or lost.
  • Lists an appropriate amount of items on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to reach the desired goals.
  • Partners with members of eBay and online sellers groups and other eBay sellers to learn best practices and tips to be more successful.
  • Records mileage consumed by thrifting and shipping, cost of goods sold (keep receipts tidy), and general cost of packaging materials.
  • Strives to understand the billing and collecting policies of eBay and PayPal.
  • Describes items in a desirable manner, to ensure they are sold (never lie about an item).
  • Captures true (as true as possible) images of items that are being listed to ens  ure customer happiness and reduce the risk of returns.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, efficient space that is appropriate for lighting and photographing the items you list.
  • Plans future steps for reaching new goals and results in your eBay sales.
  • Identify your items with the group of people you believe may purchase them and focus your listing for that group.
  • Responds quickly to potential customer’s inquiries about listed items.
  • Accepts, declines or counters all offers in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews sold items with regularity to notice any pattern and capitalize on trends.
  • Identifies with the online customer in some way so as to improve upon the experience and keep them shopping.
  • Reaches out to eBay for guidance and advice about customer issues, listing challenges and growth opportunities as a seller.
  • Uses strategies provided by eBay, other sellers and other business markets about ways to improve upon their product sourcing, listing (aka: packaging/advertising), and customer service skills to maintain or grow their sales.
  • Manages time accordingly so that the above listed duties can be completed or obtained.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations provided by the platform owner; eBay.

Willingness to learn, Patience to keep items listed (sometimes for months) until they sell, Basic communication skills, Working knowledge of the online shopper, Shops online, Believes that the world wide web is their store front, Knows that online selling does not mean the customer does not matter, General knowledge of profits and profit margins, Expects to do well in anything they attempt, Wants to have more control of their financial success
